About Jennifer Harrison

Jennifer Harrison is a Massage Therapist, Holistic Health Practitioner and Public Educator. She studied Art History and Cultural Anthropology at Buffalo State College. Jennifer's interest in indigenous cultural traditions and spirituality led her toward a path in the healing arts. She began her training at The International School Of Shiatsu and through Small Miracle Healing Center she received her Master Level Certificate in Reiki in 1997. In 2001 she relocated to California to pursue a 1000-hour comprehensive certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner from the Heartwood Institute.

Along the way, Jennifer volunteered her skills as an acupuncture assistant at the Quan Yin Center in San Francisco and The Center in Berkeley, both locations offer a variety of holistic services for those affected by H.I.V, A.I.D.S, Hepatitis and Cancer. Jennifer performed her Heartwood clinical training with Peter Stern Naturopath and Acupuncturist in Garberville, CA. Heartwood Institute called upon Jennifer as a teaching assistant and mentor in the anatomy, physiology, business and shiatsu programs. In 2003, Jennifer taught the shiatsu foundation course at the Center for Massage and Natural Health in Asheville, NC.

After working for a variety of resort and day spas, nonprofit alternative health centers and chiropractic clinics, Jennifer has begun to focus on building her own practice with an emphasis on establishing community wide health and wellness networks and support groups. Her current classes focus on pregnancy, partner massage, and cooking classes for those who are coping with food sensitivities and allergies.

Jennifer's approach involves attentive listening to the client's story and the story their body has to offer (Each individual's story is uniquely different!). Jennifer works through the physical needs, along with the energetic, emotional and lifestyle components that can keep discomfort and pain patterns at bay. A gentle, non-invasive touch can pass through the layers of trauma and discomfort to provide a deep full body sigh of relief. Each masage session is customized for who you are today and always honors the boundaries of comfort for both client and practitioner.

Out of the office Jennifer can be found whipping up fresh experiments in kitchen, expressing her creativity through art, riding her bicycle, flying kites, restoring her 1930‘s period home or researching whatever curiosity has piqued her interest that day.
